Years ago I bought a 1960 VW Bug, the guy before me had rewired the car from 6v to 12v.
easy enough to do (had he known that 6v wire, is heavier gauge then 12v wire, all he would of had to change is the regulator and a few other small parts)

But he did it the hard way, replacing ALL the wiring.

He did a great job, only 1 problem, he wired the entire car in BLUE wire!
Evey wire in the car was the same size and color lol
You ever try tracing wires on a car that are all the same color? F-ing nitemare lol

I eventually got tired, and rewired it again, with proper color coded wiring.

I had 2001 audio/video put a Alpine alarm-starter on once. The thing never really worked right so the day I decided to get rid of it it looked exactly like that. I found speaker wire that only had one side used. It was friggin terrible. I did the same thing you did. Crazy!!
